Good camera - digital cameras

They were very good when I bought them. 16 megapixels with this little thing seemed unrealistic, but it was better than cell phone cameras back then. The touchscreen was a bit blurry. immediately after the photo, but if you zoom in you can better appreciate the quality, especially when uploading to a computer or when not viewing from the camera itself. Scaling is normal. Settings for pictures and videos are ok. I mean it's not the best, but it's better than most of its sizes and times.

Pros
  • I look forward to updates

2 have already broken due to lens failure, 1 is still standing

So I've now bought 3 of these in total and might buy a 4th because I have extra batteries. 1 was returned 2 weeks ago due to a lens defect. The lens is fully extended and won't retract, and turning the camera off worked a couple of times and then nothing. I sent the defective one back and got a replacement. The second camera (I bought 2 initially and additional batteries and charger) was rarely used maybe 6 times until last week, just started doing the same but turning it on and off doesn'tโ€ฆ

OK, touch screen needs an overhaul

The camera takes good pictures and the lens quality is excellent. There are two criticisms, however: first, the touchscreen isn't as sensitive and can be annoying to use. You have to press pretty hard for the action to register. Second, switching between camera modes is a little awkward. I was switching from an old camera that had a wheel that was easy to turn to choose the shooting mode. This camera requires a few touchscreen actions to select a mode, which is inconvenient when you want toโ€ฆ

Big performance in a small package.

Should differ from some negative reviews about this camera. I have a Coolpix S550 which is a few years old, not as flexible as the S6100 but takes great photos. In terms of performance, the S6100 is several notches ahead of the S550. There are settings that allow the photographer to apply many selectable options or put the camera in AUTO mode and let the software do the work. His work is very good. I'm a 30 year film camera veteran (two Nikon bodies, seven lenses and ten plus filters) and Iโ€ฆ

Don't waste your money

I'm not a huge techie to begin with, I just needed a good point and shoot camera for less than $200. I thought I found this in the Nikon S6100. I've had this camera for almost 2 full years now and to begin with it lived up to the Nikon name: it took sharp photos, the touchscreen was always responsive, not clunky etc. Fast forward to last week. I had a friend who was getting married and I wanted to photograph the happy event. I plug in the camera to charge and nothing. The charge indicator light

Good and easy to use camera

I love Nikon cameras but with all the new technology this camera is pretty sluggish when it comes to recording and writing to the SD card. The rear screen requires use of the stylus on the strap or a fingertip. So don't think it will work like your Android touch screen phone. It comes with a battery and charger that holds up pretty well. The charger also works with other Nikon cameras. So if like me you have more than one Nikon camera it can charge them all. The menu is pretty easy to navigateโ€ฆ

  • Trial version for one year
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Point and shoot fun

Our brother had this camera when he came to visit. He really liked it so after looking at other similar cameras in this category we decided to buy it. It's smaller than our Panasonic bridge camera, making it more comfortable for most of our day-to-day photography, but we're sticking with the Panasonic as there are a lot of things it can't do. Image quality is pretty good as far as I can tell. Photos indoors without flash were better than flash in the office. I used it during our company partyโ€ฆ

Battery not covered by Nikon warranty

I bought this camera for a friend on Black Friday last year. She wanted a good camera so she could learn how to take digital photos. At first the camera was good, the photos it took looked good and it worked well, especially for a beginner. That changed when she tried to use it in October of that year. She has used it several times, for Christmas, New Years and some birthdays, but when she tried it last month (October 2012) the camera would not turn on and the battery would not charge. Afterโ€ฆ
