Review on Sunco Lighting 4 Pack ST64 LED Bulb for Industrial Electrical Applications by Marcus Rash

Lamp life and annual energy costs are questionable.

I haven't checked in advance, but just wanted to comment on the information on the packaging. The estimated annual energy cost per light bulb is given as $0.84 per year, with an energy cost of $0.11 per kWh. The problem for me with this calculation is that it's based on only 3 hours of daily use. This may be standard usage for regular lights, but these are dusk-to-dawn light sensors designed to operate during the night. This means the average runtime over the course of a year will be closer to 12 hours per day, bringing the annual cost closer to $3.37 per bulb. This is 4 times the stated annual cost. The other issues I have relate to the expected lamp life of 13.7 years. Again, this is based on a lamp life of 15,000 hours based on an average usage of 3 hours per day for a lamp that is actually used an average of 12 hours per day. This results in a realistic expected lamp life of almost 3.5 years. That's 1/4 of the years you can expect from these lamps. Given the purpose of these lamps and realistic usage patterns, I think they could better reflect both the cost of running the lamps and the expected lifespan of the lamps. Haven't used the light yet and that was more of an issue I had with the marketing on the box. **
