I use them to stitch backgrounds into animation frames. They represent very good archiving and can be halved if the situation calls for it. I use them on either a color laser copy, an original watercolor background, or an archival acid-free foam color background. One at the top and one at the bottom of the sheet will do, unless the paper is very thin. The bindings have a grip area in the first 1/16 inch or so of the foam backing where regular paper can be pressed for a friction fit. In most cases, however, covering the substrate with clear plastic is sufficient to hold it in place. Both the foam and watercolor backgrounds are thick enough to fit snugly under the plastic. The strips are 4 inches wide, which is too big for all but the largest backing sheets. I usually cut them into 2 inch pieces for mounting, and I even had to cut off half of the adhesive area because the mounted sheet is very close in size to the substrate. It can handle up to half of the removed adhesive without losing too much of its adhesion, especially when the topmat is placed over it to keep it in contact with the backboard. For my purposes these strips are perfect. Not you just hold those Back on the back board, but also make the mat over it, about 1/32 inch from the installed board. This reduces the chance of sheets sticking together over time. Also, I edit a lot of anime frames that require an extra matte sheet behind to keep the air space between the paint on the back of the frame and the background behind. Mounting strips add a few valuable millimeters to this space. I have bought and used at least 6 boxes in the last year and have found them expensive but worth it in the long run.
