While you might not get the same level of image sharpness from a large print format, you can certainly get very close to your DSLR on screen. Best of all, there are thousands of C-mount lenses that can be mounted on it. They can cover everything from telescope to microscope, wide angle to telephoto, macro, fixed and everything in between. I expected from a lens like this that the results would still be pretty impressive so I'll see what I can do with it. Meanwhile, C-mount optics offer a wide range of options and prices, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding alternative lenses. This camera deserves a lot of attention.
