This sound card was and still is a very good sound card. It has good sound and is pretty easy to install. However, it has a very big problem that it shares with Sound Blaster Live! Map. Both cards have built-in game/midi ports. This wouldn't be a problem at all if Creative Labs had properly supported these cards, but while drivers for the cards themselves are still available, drivers for the gameport are not supported in Win 7 or Win Vista. So this results in the card not completing the installation on Win 7 and Vista and if you don't turn it off you occasionally get a boot prompt to complete the installation of your sound card. If you want to use this card on an XP system, your gameport drivers are available for this operating system. but if you are planning to use it on win 7 or vista then the best thing you can do if you want to install a gameport driver is find a third party driver and hope it works. (I had very bad luck with this on my old SB Live! and ended up going with a third party that seemed to work but wasn't that stable and I ended up upgrading to a SB Audigy SE which doesn't have a gameport and will continue to do so supported and working properly.) This should be taken into account when purchasing this card.
