Has 4 lenses and sharp images. You need to learn to use optical adjustments like condenser adjustment, diopter adjustment, light intensity adjustment, aperture. But it has no filters. I haven't tried oil immersion, but I'll try to study bacteria later. Comes with two sets of eyepieces, but 10x is all you need and 20x is generally useless. It comes with immersion oil and don't waste it as it's not cheap to buy. The optics are excellent and the micro-adjustment of the stage is just as smooth as focusing and fine-focusing, but not on the level of German microscopes, but good enough for most purposes. The microscope is strong and made of metal, not plastic, so it stays in one place. It is definitely not for young children unless under adult supervision. If you allow children, I would recommend removing the immersion lens to avoid damaging the slide or lens. No oil immersion is required unless you are viewing bacteria-sized objects. I wish the LED light was a bit brighter for powerful, dense samples. The picture is wide angle. I think they make up the plan series goals that work with this, but the goals here are good enough. They are way better than the old AO scopes. No slides were included, which is fine as I had a lot of them, but for those new to microscopy, would you like to see something now?
