Update 09/21/2020 I finally got tired of struggling with a zipper that is clearly broken. There is also a tear in the fabric on the left rear where the cover pulls around the saddlebag. Perhaps Revain's "Make sure it fits your vehicle" feature didn't let me down here. It was listed as an XXL size for a 1990 GL1500, but it was a little tight. This may have contributed to the tearing of the fabric and my struggle with the zipper - although it wasn't really tight. Speaking of zippers - I have a 30 year old leather jacket with a plastic zipper. Despite 30 years of use and my ever-expanding belly, Lightning has never had a hiccup. It's also significantly more powerful than the one on the Dowco cover. So zippers can work with Dowco, but you need to choose the right type. The cap is still under warranty so I'm entitled to a replacement. But I didn't need another zippered cover, so I contacted Dowco Customer Service hoping that they would be willing to send me a non-zippered cover instead of an identical type of zipper as a warranty replacement. You tell me politely but firmly NO. Must be the exact same item. I begged them a bit, offered to pay the difference (or if the zipless version is cheaper, which it probably is, they can keep the difference). However NO. They offered me a 15% discount if I decide to buy the non-zip version. Oh thanks, Dauko, but I paid you all the money I ever could have gotten. Not counting the $10 shipping fee for a warranty replacement, of course. So I did two things - I went to the warranty page and filed a claim (you must ship any damaged parts with an ID tag sewn in and pay $10 shipping); and I went to the local Cycle Gear and bought a Bilt case (no zip, what a relief!). A replacement cap from Dowco arrived via UPS today, I don't know what I'm going to do with it - maybe sell it on Craigslist, maybe just throw it away. It's useless to me, but I didn't want to let Dowco off the hook - if they refuse to go an inch beyond the legal requirements to honor their warranty, at least they will. I can understand why Dowco or any other company would be reluctant to replace another item if they were under warranty - it can encourage fraud when someone intentionally sabotages a product they don't like in order to get something they don't like for free like better. But I didn't, and if they had agreed with me when in doubt, they would have had a regular customer. And I would like to tell the story of their excellent service in this review. Oh, it didn't work that way. I doubt they really care. Bottom line, given the poor quality of both the product and customer support, I would never buy a Dowco product again, period.<><><><><><><><><><><><>< ><> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>Recently the flash started to fail, ie the part with a zipper behind the train is opened. Today I had a lot of problems to zip up, I had to work very carefully. It's finally done, but I have a feeling that this suitcase will soon end up in the bin, even though it's still in almost new condition. There are flashes that could work reliably in this application, but Dowco went for a real junkie. I've always been suspicious of that flimsy looking zipper so I'm very wary of it. However, it is already out of order. Bottom line - don't buy this.
