When I first installed the hitch light it did not work properly due to the common turn signal/brake signal wire on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It actually worked, but since I have a Ford that has a common turn signal/brake light wire, when the brakes are applied and the turn signal is activated, the hitch light flashes along with the turn signals. I wasn't happy with that. When I contacted iJDMTOY and sent a video of the above action, their reply was "The video shows that the LED hitch is working properly." So if you don't have separate turn signal bulbs/wires from brake lights, this is it Product may be suitable for you without modification. But if you have a Ford that uses common steering/brakes, or another car that uses the same wire for steering/brakes, you might want to think twice about buying this item. In order for this to work properly on my Ford ST I had to fit a CURT - 56196 converter to make the brake light work independently of the turn signals. I buy an extra 4 wire tow cable and wired the CURT converter (and strobe controller) between the plugs so I can easily remove the light from my hitch and hook up my trailer (with lights) if needed. The converter is too big to fit through a 2" receiver so I had to purchase an additional 4 wire harness. I also didn't like how the wire came out of the bottom of the clutch; hitch receiver. I modified the hitch headlight connector so that it comes out the back end of the square (my hitch receiver is open at the back allowing for this modification). I also added a flashing strobe controller when the brake light worked independently from the turn signals and separated it from the tail light, now only two wires go to the hitch: stop and ground. , I was expecting to modify it and give it more stars, but after receiving the converter, additional wiring, a little rewiring and iJDMTOY's response, I gave the product 3 stars. for trailer lights, I haven't come across any eTrailer model that already has a converter installed to disconnect the brake/swivel cables; Unfortunately, the Smoky model doesn't have it, which is why I bought this one. Also, the three spacers I received with the flashlight are the same size at 0.187" or 4.7mm.
