1000 feet, -33 degrees Fahrenheit, no line of sight. Works perfectly!

Although I just installed this device today, I just wanted to write a quick overview of some things that I've learned or that I think might be useful to others who own or have this device consider buying it. I am very impressed with this device. I will update my review after spending some time with the device. As for my setup. I installed this device on a remote 40 acre site covered by dense forest. The air temperature here is currently -33 F. My driveway is 1300 feet long. I have a PIR sensor (motion sensor) mounted 4 feet up on a tree trunk. I placed the base unit on my kitchen counter about 1000 feet away from the PIR sensor. I don't have a base station by the window. I taped it in the corner above my counter. It's too cold at the moment to measure the exact distance between the base unit and the PIR sensor, but 1000 feet is a very good estimate. As I said, the area is heavily overgrown with forest. The forest is so dense that in winter, when all the leaves have fallen off the trees, it's still difficult for you to see even 30 feet down into the forest. In such conditions, the device works perfectly! I was quite surprised due to the low temperatures, the distance between the base unit and the PIR sensor, and the fact that I don't even remotely have line of sight between them. As for the exam. I drove my quad up and down the driveway three times and each time the alarm went off. I used my mobile phone to connect to the microphone of the IP camera I have in my kitchen next to the base unit and heard the alarm from the base. The base never raised an alarm when I moved towards the PIR sensor, but it did sound every time I moved away from the sensor. More on that later. conclusion from it. The unit has an EXCELLENT range at my 1000 foot range. Use in cold climates like my lithium ion batteries. Conventional alkaline batteries (lose performance) in cold environments. Although lithium-ion batteries are slightly more expensive, they are essential in cold environments, so don't skimp! Now it is finally also important to position the IR sensor (motion sensor) and to understand how it works. The PIR sensor detects the intended radiation. The best way to explain what this means is to think of a PIR sensor as one that doesn't actually detect motion but does detect thermal motion. The PIR sensor looks for something different from the ambient temperature in the field of view. This brings us back to why the IR sensor didn't detect that I drove the quad towards the IR sensor, but it did detect the quad every time I drove away from the IR sensor. The IR sensor could not detect the temperature difference between me and the ATV I was riding and the ambient temperature. The ATV will be parked in an unheated garage so that the temperature of the entire ATV is consistent with the environment. -33 degrees Fahrenheit. The PIR sensor didn't detect me while driving the ATV because I was wearing boots, winter pants, jacket, gloves. and a face mask. All of these covers were also -33 degrees Fahrenheit. Adjust my temperature to that of my environment. However, the IR sensor detected that I drove the ATV away from the IR sensor after driving past it. This is because the IR sensor had a clear view of the exhaust system and tailpipe, which was probably a few hundred degrees hotter than ambient, hence triggering the warning. 90 degree angle to the road. Try to position the IR sensor to face the driveway to maximize the time the vehicle is in the IR sensor's field of view and also give the IR sensor a good view of that Rear of the vehicle to detect heat signatures coming from the IR sensor. car exhaust system. I will try to correct this review as soon as possible. Sorry if it's a bit confusing. I am writing this while my three little rats are running everywhere.
