It works great and is a great replacement for a worn out old device that suddenly stopped working (even after trying a new battery). There are two things to know about this: 1. I took it apart and put in my previous cutting key. If you do this, you will find that the pieces do not fit together exactly and the key does not pop out as quickly as the original key fob.2. I also moved my original RFID, which is in a small glass bulb inside the fob, to the new fob.3. I had to use Ross-Tech VCDS to program the car's electronics to hear the new remote. "Free DIY Programming Guide" says you need special hardware to program the car. It just so happens that I'm a VW DIY enthusiast, but not many people have these. However, search VCDS on CraigsList and you'll likely find someone who can help you for a lot less than the retailer's price.
