Solid product for 2 dogs!

If you've ever walked 3 dogs alone, you know how difficult it can be. I use these collars to ensure my two most stubborn dogs are well behaved on walks. This is a great product that does what it advertises. On the plus side, all parts of the set are very durable and well made. The remote control is very clear and I like the wrist strap so you don't have to hold it all the time. The vibrate, beep, and shock buttons are labeled with images that make it very clear which button does what. The screen also speaks for itself. Each function button is separate (unlike some of the other horrible training collars I've used where you only have one button to toggle between horn, vibrate and shock functions). Another button toggles between dog 1 and dog 2, showing on screen which dog you're currently hanging out with. One collar strap is yellow and the other is black so you can easily tell which dog is wearing what. Both collars are paired with the remote control by pressing the button on the collar on the first try. Both the remote and collars are rechargeable and so far have held a charge for over two weeks of daily use without recharging. I turn off the collars between uses and the remote automatically turns off if no buttons are pressed for a while. Both the remote control and the collars can be charged with the same charger, which is very convenient since no batteries and two separate chargers are required. The instructions are great and the product works exactly as they say it will. The photo instructions showing how to thread the collars through the recipients were extremely helpful and I appreciated these additional picture instructions being included. The horn, vibrate, and shock functions work well, and the vibrate and shock functions can be adjusted separately. For example, the vibration function can be set from 1 (light, hardly noticeable vibration) to 12 (strong vibration). The shock also has 12 levels from a mild static shock (1) to a severe painful shock (12). I tried the shock on myself at level 1 on my finger - I would never put my dog through anything I couldn't handle. It works, and it's not very good, but it doesn't really hurt. It's like dragging your feet across a carpet to build up static electricity, and then touching a metal doorknob and getting a small electric shock. It makes you jump, and it's not comfortable, but it doesn't hurt either. The kit also includes a tester that can be used to test impact resistance. During operation, the tester's display will light up, indicating that power is being supplied from the pins on the collar. One of my dogs now responds immediately to the beep and follows the heels without even receiving a vibration or shock. She answered with a yell at the first rank at level 1, and he didn't need it again. My other dog has a very thick coat and is a little more stubborn. He didn't react to the shock at all until I hit level 5. At shock level 5 he looks up, so it will probably take longer to penetrate his very thick fur. The instructions say to set the shock to the lowest level the dog will respond to, so I leave it at that level. A push of a button on the remote control toggles between dog 1 and dog 2 and always saves the setting levels. I haven't tried the remote beyond 20 feet or so, but it works within that range every time. The collars themselves have two separate sets of tines that can be changed. They just toggle on and off. These are the pins that come into contact with your dog's neck: short for short-haired dogs and long for long-haired or thick-haired dogs. I appreciate there were also rubber caps for each set of tines to keep the metal from rubbing on my dog's necks. Also worth noting that the circle on the front of the receiver collar looks great in my opinion and also keeps the collar fabric tight to the receiver. Unlike some other training collars I've tried, you do NOT have to remove the collar strap to charge the collar, which is great. A red or green light on the collar receivers indicates whether they are on or not. Now for the bad: I found it hard to find anything bad about this set, but one area that could use some improvement is that you can plug in the remote and a collar at the same time to charge them with the included charging cable Do not connect both collars at the same time. It would be nice to have a 3rd splitter on the charging cable so you can connect all 3 at once. But that's not so important as the batteries last so long! All in all a reliable and affordable training set for 2 dog owners. I recommend it.
