Review on Malco TS1XXX Capacity Cutting Attachment by John Brazington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good for hobbies/craftsmen who use sheet metal

I was planning to steal an idea I saw online and build some garden planters out of corrugated steel roofing (and wooden frames). I bought some records and a pair of hand scissors and got to work. I gave up after 5 minutes with horrible cuts on my hands and jagged twisted cuts. I then tried a metal bladed jigsaw and although it worked it was VERY noisy and left metal shavings everywhere. I was more or less disappointed with planters until I saw this product and thought I'd give it a try. Obviously I had never used electric scissors before because I was impressed with how easy it was to cut these panels with this device. It took a few tries to get the feel right (especially with the wavy combs), but then cutting these slabs was a breeze. I was also pleasantly surprised that there wasn't much torque when using the red crank. . For some reason I figured I'd have to hold onto that handle with all my might to try to keep it from turning with the drill. The rotating part that gets stuck in the drill has very little resistance and so I was actually able to build a clamp to hold the handle in place (like the clamp they sell separately) just using zip ties. So while I can't compare a good pair of scissors it's a lot better than trying to cut metal by hand.

Pros
  • AC or cordless drill chuck bits
Cons
  • old
