Review on πŸ’¦ KIT4CAT Home Wellness Test for Cats: Hydrophobic Litter for Urine Collection & Test Strips to Detect Diabetes, Kidney Conditions, UTI, and Blood in Urine by Shelley Highter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It could have saved a life.

So my cat urinated outside of her box. He is 16 and has done this in the past when he had a urinary tract infection. He only did this twice, and since my husband was in charge of "cleaning" the litter box, I thought it might be because his litter box wasn't up to his standards. Just in case I bought this test instead of running to the vet and spending hundreds of dollars to find out that my husband isn't cleaning his litter box well enough or often enough. He was a little lethargic, but he's 16, so... whatever. My heart skipped a beat when it found glucose and protein in his urine, but no blood. I used both strips and they showed the same results. I knew something was wrong with my friend so we went to the vet asap. It turns out he's diabetic. Now I give him injections twice a day and he gets food according to the prescription. So far, so good. The symptoms were so minor that in the chaos of two very young children, vacations, crazy work hours, etc., they could easily be overlooked. This set made it easy for my friend to check this out. Hydrophobic sand works exactly as shown in the picture. Urine literally collects on it. The results are easy to read. It even comes with a vial and dropper in case you have a vet wanting to test your sample. Mine wouldn't do it, but at that point I was herding my cat into her office anyway.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Minor issues
