I installed this in the back of my SUV. I have an older SUV and it had the typical cigarette adapter in the back but to be honest just shoving in an adaptor and fussing with it and trying to connect additional items in to the same socket all the time was getting to be a pain.This is marketed at Marine use but while my SUV is a bit of a boat to handle sometimes. I really needed to replace the socket with something like this.I cut back my plastic side trim and made a slot for this to go into the SUV - removed the old connectors to the old socket - and just connected this up instead. I had to do a little bit of adapting here and there but this is now installed in the rear of the car and working great! I can plugin in more than one device in the back now!Great product - Recommended!
