Review on YONGNUO YN50mm F1.8N Standard Prime Lens: Large Aperture, Auto/Manual Focus (AF/MF) for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Jeremy Keller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

YUP! Overall, I can't tell a big difference in quality, but my wallet is happy.

What I liked about this 50mm f1.8 lens: Is it cheap? YesDid I like the f1.8 for less money than the 18-55mm f5.6 at 50mm in DX format? Metal bracket? Yes, it fits perfectly. Does it always show up well? Does the autofocus work well on my D3400, D7000, D810 and even my D500 and N80 cameras? YesDid I like the auto focus on D40, D60, D3xxx, D5xxx cameras without built in auto focus motor? Yes. Autofocus faster than Nikon D lenses? Yes. Where are the best AF-D lenses? Yes. Does it work fine at 10 fps? Yes, it looks like a cannon lens? Yes Nikon? May be. Did I remove the blue plastic lens protectors (front and back) to get normal color images? Yes, did I use a good Hoya filter? Yes. Have I compared it to 50mm 1.4f AF-D, Sigma 18-200 OS, Nikon 28-300mm, Nikon AF-P 18-55, Nikon AF-SII 18-55 and seen little difference at the same aperture? Yes. Was there a big difference? no Did I see more flare than with Nikon lenses? NODid I like the bouquet? is he hot? Yes, (at least when it matters at 80% of the center of the image). I have said. It s cheap? Yes. lol. What I didn't like: - No weather protection. - The focus bar moves away from the focus ring. - No manual focus correction in auto focus mode. You have to use the switch like old lenses. No VR but f1.8 is much faster than f5.6 on DX 18-55mm. The thread size of the filter is 58mm, not 52mm as advertised. So do the math. For me and for non-critical jobs you will not print photo frames. I think it's worth a try. Time will tell how long this lasts. Happy shooting!

Pros
