Handle doesn't fit properly

When we first used the broom, the two-piece handle fell apart. The sections of the handle connected and disconnected again. I can't return it because I don't have time. We're going to attach it with some kind of glue or tape. The handle must have a push mechanism that fits into a slot. I am so disappointed as I have had Stanley mops and brooms for many years and they have stood the test of time. It only took 1 minute.
