This is a good second phone if you don't mind tilting your head when answering or speaking, the coiled cord is short and the coil is stiff enough to lift your phone off a table and throw it on the ground if you don't. For a base model with no caller ID or messages, this is normal. Can come in handy for stormy thoughts when cordless phones don't work when the power goes out. I would recommend getting a longer coiled cord, it can talk for a long time so it stretches and stays stretched long enough not to hurt your neck.
