I've had small ozone generators in the past that were more compact than this but they were either on or off. This device has a built in timer that allows it to run for 30 minutes with the push of a button on the front. Or you can flip a small switch to the "on" position and it will run indefinitely. I have an outlet high up in the closet that we keep the vacuum in, and I put the vacuum back and push the button before I close the door. This will help remove the dog smell that the vacuum gets. Sometimes I check the closet and push the button again if the smell is still there. Sometimes I also connect this little device to an extension cord, plug it into the bottom of the box, turn it on and put stuff on top of the generator to absorb the smell, and then close the box (like smelly dog beds that don't clean up well ). Then I leave it on for a day or two and the ozone helps get rid of the smell. I've had this device for almost 2 years now and haven't had any problems. The last ozone generator I had (a different brand) ran for about a year before it had problems due to corrosion of the internal electronics. So far, this little device has been worth the money.
