Good rough sponge, air it first.

This is a sponge. he is rough It smelled strong right out of the box and soaking it in a vinegar solution didn't improve it much, so I'd recommend airing it out a bit before using it in the aquarium. It COULD work without it, but I wouldn't risk my fish's lives out of impatience. Definitely recommended, despite this limitation.

Pros

The Bio Sponge Filter Media Pad is safe for aquatic animals and is made without dyes. Suitable for freshwater or saltwater aquariums.
