Defective electronics

I bought a 33-pin IDE connector (2.5" hard drive replacement) for compact flash. The biggest problem is that the computer on my old laptop doesn't recognize the drive at all In my new laptop with this in a case it wasn't recognized when mounted, once I formatted something it kept ejecting and plugging back in. Had to go back.Pins came loose on either side of the board, solder was closed a lot on the bottom which put too much pressure on the IDE connector.
