The ideal size for a block is 24 " x 24 ".
This is the perfect size for my air conditioner. The only negative I have is that you can't tie it under the hoses that run into the house from the bottom of the unit. You should lower it down as much as possible and leave it that way. Luckily for me, this corner is the closest to home and usually out of the snowfall.
