Update: I've had them for 9 months now and they are all still intact and working great. Anyone who broke them must have tried to scratch hard. Don't be dissuaded from buying. Those are the biggest. They are compact and convenient. I have one in my home office, work office and my chair. I can't tell you how often I use them. I read many reviews and was concerned about the strength and durability of the telescopic arm. Having owned three of them I can say that they are quite strong and none of them have broken. As with many things, it should be obvious how much pressure you can apply to an item. I'm sure if you lean on it or sit on it wrong it could break. I just pull it out to a decent length and start scratching, and it never feels like it's under duress. As I said, I still have all three and they are all in excellent condition. For the price it's great to have one in the living room, one in the bedroom and one in the office.
