The fabric is tight and dense. It's like a bandage skirt as it holds everything up. I chose Large because I knew it was a tight skirt. I'm usually 6 or 8 in skirts and have wide hips. It's still very narrow and I can barely straighten my legs when walking. Out of modesty, I wouldn't wear this skirt with a top that doesn't cover the butt because it suits the figure. But I am very happy with the material and it covers my knees well. It also washes well on a cold gentle cycle.
