Pros: - Easy installation with roller tool - Good balanced grip/traction - Flexible enough to stretch when applied, no wrinkles - Aesthetically pleasing texture, like frosted glass - Not too flashy - Roller tooling is excellent - Peels off easily from substrate - Large enough to cover the tread/edge of each step Cons: - Clean finish reveals bubbles - Doesn't include many spare parts The kit hangs Depends on ladder size - Adhesive backing is non-stick on one side only (issues with what is described below). Pros and cons depending on preference: - Doesn't cover much of the depth of each stair, a full length stair - The adhesive seems strong enough not to peel easily at the edges, but some people report that it does the Hardwood finish affected when removed (although you can always buff real hardwood) - the texture is rough enough to hide any attempts to poke holes to let air bubbles out, but rubbery enough that those holes don't seem to do much. Overall Impression: Excellent quality and just what I expected. Installation was pretty easy if you are careful with bubbles. I'm a bit concerned about damage to the hardwood surface when removed, but not overly concerned if the hardwood just needs a new top coat after the words. Phone. I found it helpful to completely remove the sticker, hold the tread over the stair around the center, allow the center to sag to touch the tread, and then slowly allow the rest of the piece to touch outward from the center , while lowering the tread and watching the edge to see if it stayed, if I'm in line with the stair itself. If the treads are initially flush with the stair, you can easily pull them off to adjust as long as they touch lightly without pressure. However, you really want to get them on the first try. After that, I found it convenient to use the roller from the center to each side, always arcing outward to the edges. My only issue was that when a protective sheet peeled off the non-stick base, it flipped over and briefly made contact with the opposite side of the backing, which appears to be non-stick. Once this happened, the tread was completely irreparable - like removing a cheap price tag from a product, the paper stuck to the tread. Check out the photos. Now I have to see if they sell replacement packs or buy a brand new set for just one step. Unfortunately the package was 15 steps and one staircase here was exactly 15 steps so the only flaw was that I had to replace that single step. If you're going to incur all the expense of shipping a good kit with a roll and all, it would be nice and wise to include some spare screen protectors in case you make a mistake during installation or if over time it starts to wear down peel off edges. I'm sure a few extra steps add only marginally to the material cost per unit and it would be very helpful if something goes wrong with the installation maybe 1-10% of the time or if a step or two needs to be replaced. Overall I bought these steps to keep our four legged friends from slipping on our steps (not to mention less stable people) and I am very happy with them.
