The cable (per se) does not allow you to connect two Dell XPS 15 HDMI monitors to one Dell VGA monitor. Others who are more knowledgeable can suggest alternatives, add-ons, etc. But with cable alone, the XPS 15 doesn't see (recognize) the secondary monitor, even as it extends the main display. If the goal is just to duplicate the display on another, larger(?) screen, this will work. Also, these comments may not apply to other laptops, operating systems, etc. There are likely workarounds to make the digital side VGA compatible, although image quality will most likely suffer anyway.
