Review on Shop Fox D2056 Tool Table by Shawn Torres

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything is from China.

I wasn't expecting much for $59 but it was even worse than I thought it would be. Cheap materials and poor assembly. First, the top is terrible. Calling it MDF is an insult to MDF. The label on mine says it was made in 2018 and has probably been in some sort of high humidity warehouse for over 2 years making it extremely soft and full of little bubbles. I don't know what it's made of, but it probably doesn't contain any wood fibers. It wouldn't surprise me if it was made by Uyghur slaves who don't meet their quotas. As Charlton Heston said, 'You've got to tell them! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!” I suspect this "wooden" countertop is the same. Next, leveling legs or casters if you choose to do so won't support this stand for very long, just look at user photos of bent legs and failed nuts. The adjustable feet or casters are held in place by multiple weld nuts that have been nailed to the underside with two small pins. To make matters worse, the weld nuts protrude from under the bottom of the legs and support all of the weight, even if you choose not to use leveling feet or casters. I also had one that was so badly welded that it didn't even flush with the floor. That's because it's not the nuts that carry the weight, it's real pant legs. So I cut out some 1X4 pieces and drilled a hole for the nuts. Thus, the lower part of the legs was at the top of the tree. I then tied them together with two other 1X4 pieces. I also used my own gear and threw away easily detachable gear. Now I can just throw a piece of plywood on the floor and get another shelf for storage. The addition of 1X4 and rolls also lifted it up a bit which made it more comfortable for me since it was pretty low to begin with. I have attached photos of what I did. It's crude but gets the job done and I already had the material on hand. I didn't want to spend another $100 on a $59 rack cart.
