Buy a size up if your girl is on the higher end of my youngest daughter's sizes, they were loose but still rough and definitely cameltoe. The garment has two pieces that form an alternating shape at the crotch that allows for limited stretch and drape rather than staying upright, but my girls found them comfortable. Still the best price I could find for my girls who love to hang upside down in trees in dresses. Suitable for water play and sleeping, but not for wearing in public.
