Rougher than it looks in the product photo

I ordered this to use as a ground cover around some of the potted succulents I have. However, I feel that it looks a little too unfinished compared to what I was expecting. Yes, I know it's natural, but still. . However, I found an alternative use for it: I added it to a succulent mix that seemed too hydrophilic and dense to me. The succulent cuttings I planted in this mix are thriving. I've also used it at the bottom of some other plants I've transplanted to create a well-drained breathing/drainage space over the container's drainage holes. Addendum 7-26-19: I used gravel on the surface of some plants. my succulent containers. Now I understand how he does not draw attention to himself, but emphasizes the plants. I would buy this again.
