Summary: Shock absorbers are perfect with modified HD leaf springs. I have a 2006 Club Car Precedent electric car. About a year ago I installed heavy leaf springs on the car but noticed that the ride quality had deteriorated. I've used a variety of methods to speed up the break-in time, including heating the springs, loading a 300-pound wagon and driving it for weeks, etc., but the HD leaf springs were too stiff and bouncy. I ended up removing the shortest/flattest leaf and reinstalling the leaf springs on the carriage. Removing that leaf changed the world and eliminated the crack. However, hitting a significant bump with passengers in the rear now caused a tremor in the rear. I added these bumps to the setup and now the ride is perfect. It's smooth, responsive, doesn't bounce and hard hits are now absorbed. The installation went quickly. 15 minutes with no problems with distance, angle, length, hardware etc. Hope this helps.
