Review on πŸ”¦ Tendelux 80ft IR Illuminator: Enhancing Security Camera Performance with AI4 No Hot Spot Wide Angle Infrared Light (w/Power Adapter) by Jeffrey Sanders

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Using IR with a range of 80 feet in a dark garage is like bringing the sun inside.

At first glance this lamp seems small so I figured I wouldn't be disappointed with its light output. I tested it out in the workshop first, and when I checked the security camera, I came back thinking I'd left the room's extensive lighting on. No, just this 4W IR source. So it worked, maybe too well for where I tested it. And I noticed that it feels quite warm, so not putting out all 4 watts of light. Is it hot enough to be dangerous? Time will tell, but it's worrying. I took it to a medium sized three car residential garage. One of the security cameras, I have to look for clues to tell if the normal lighting is on or not - like which way the shadow is pointing. This thing leaves no doubt as to what is or isn't in the area. A few things. The light is so bright that if it lights up in the dark or goes out in the light, it will set off a motion alarm. These triggers don't occur when the lights are off, so I know it's the lighting itself. I'll move it to different places in the room to see if I can minimize it or at least reduce the shadows. I'm a bit concerned about the life expectancy due to the device's perceived temperature when it's on. I'm curious to see how long the light lasts and how long the power supply survives. All in one package at a low price there isn't much of a risk if it dies in a few years and I think if only one LED comes out it still has plenty of power but if the power supply goes for a replacement it lives up to it Cost for all package so I would consider alternatives if it dies too soon. A good deal indeed, as many have pointed out, because for the price of a lamp or power supply you get a light and a power supply. I have no doubt the 80 foot range is correct and I could point it out the window before stopping in a fixed spot just to watch the cars go by at night. I would buy him again for other places if he lives long enough. Update 12/23/2018: After I switched this temporary wall mount to a permanent ceiling mount, my 300mhz garage door remote stopped working in a reasonable range. I suspected this was due to the power adapter that came with this flashlight. While the outlet was fine, I was unable to operate the remote from the driveway with the garage door closed if it was plugged into the same source as the garage door opener that houses the wireless receiver. I checked and changed the battery in the remote control, but that didn't help. When I replaced the AC-DC adapter with an additional one from my parts closet, normal remote shop operation was restored. In this case, the adapter that came with it was free, and the free one wasn't cheap enough for my install location. I have not lowered my rating based on this finding as when I originally opened the box I had low expectations for an adapter this small given it was very inexpensive and made with little or no RF rejection and it turned out that that he is true.
