My partner is developing arthritis in her fingers and has had problems with her right hand for many years unfortunately she is very right handed. Bought this for her because she always opened jars for me for her as we only had a manual opener. Now I don't get called to work anymore. I've had these things for months and have opened many jars of all sizes. Still great and still on the first set of batteries. I don't know why so many people say it's crap, but I think it does what it's supposed to do, and very well. It literally breaks the seal after processing the can so it doesn't actually cut through the can. The safety aspect with no sharp edges is a bonus and you can even put the lid back on for short term storage and it will almost seal it.
