You get what you pay for. These are retractable sticks, they are incredibly thin. I can't imagine they end up holding the weight of the food on fire. The metal is cheap, there is a plastic ring at the base next to the thin light "wood" handle. I'm sure the plastic ring will melt if held near a hot fire. I wouldn't waste your money on something you have to throw away. I would buy better quality ones that are a bit more expensive and will last for many years.
