For those who do not know. For Power over Ethernet (POE) cameras, you will need to run some Category 6 cables (supplied) from the camera to the recorder. I have included the tools and additional materials required for this in the attached pictures. I decided to cut the RJ-45 connectors off the ethernet cables to make them easier to route through walls, and then used a crimping tool (pictured) to attach the new connectors. These chambers are junction boxes (also shown in the pictures). I bought a DS-1280ZJ-XS Aluminum Bracket Junction Back Box ($50 for a 4 pack from Revain) and they were very high quality and worked absolutely perfectly. Other than that, you really only need the necessary tools if you're doing it yourself. As a result, I installed 3 cameras out of 4, one in each entrance of my home. Let's get to the rating. The cameras deliver decent image quality. They have a fairly wide field of view, are fully weatherproof, and have excellent night vision. The recorder's interface is pretty good - 2TB of storage (plenty), cameras are easy to sync and set up, and the phone app is great for remote monitoring. It delivers as advertised and was everything I was looking for. The only downer is that I was originally hoping for an even better image quality. It's still very good (especially when viewed on a 2k+ monitor) but I definitely wouldn't be able to spot a license plate on the street with my front door camera. The only other issue is that the motion detection recording is actually too sensitive even at the lowest settings. In my case, this causes the cameras to record almost continuously (at least at night) due to the bugs flying in front of them. It simply means you can scroll through a lot more footage during playback than you'd expect, even when recording in motion detection mode. It doesn't bother me personally, but it might bother some people. Overall, this setup works as advertised, has great features, and plenty of hard drive space. Installation isn't that bad if you do it yourself. And the picture quality is good too. I am happy with the purchase.
