Cover the inside of the hole or you'll be chasing tiny whorls forever.
I sanded the paint and then cut and polished with one of these. It kept coming out with shiny little "C"s on the paint, so I wet the sand until it crumbled and tried again. Then I realized that the velcro on your baker will poke a hole and cut through the paint if pressure is applied to this pad. It holds up better than other 3" foam pads I've tried, but be careful. The cooling hole can cause a lot of headaches right away!
