Having been a licensed plumber for the last 20 years I can't imagine why anyone shouldn't have at least 5 of these units in their home. They're like lottery tickets. If one of them beeps once, you'll just save yourself thousands of dollars on new flooring, drywall, or worse. I really don't think you need to pair them. They're more than loud enough to be heard around the house. Even from the basement, where you don't go often. Never buy cheap disposable models that you see in stores. Take one of these good kits and put it wherever there is water. Sinks, water heaters, washing machines, BEHIND THE REFRIGERATOR if you have an ice maker, behind the toilet. Wherever a leak can occur, it will eventually happen. Believe me.
