Very good modern flooded lead acid battery management system. The solar energy market has changed the way lead-acid batteries are serviced. It is an intelligent charge controller that prevents capacity loss due to desulfation, bulk charging and cell alignment. My RV batteries require a bit of maintenance over the winter when a modern charger needs to be replaced. I tried a cheap trickle charger once and it dried out the battery over the winter. Good trickle chargers cost more than the battery itself. Nobody wants to buy a new battery every season. When I installed a bilge pump solar charger on an open boat, I found that the charge controller doesn't care where the power comes from. It also doesn't shut down when the input is removed. Grab an old wall wart from my trash drawer, a plug-in timer, and now I have a state-of-the-art battery repair for less than $20. The timer keeps the wall wart on my electric bill from increasing and the charge controller keeps my boat and motorcycle batteries in tip-top shape. With the 2-pin SAE connectors, I can unplug and drive with no problems.
