ELITE UV-C DEODORIATOR AND GERMGUARDIAN GG1100W CONNECTED DEODORIATOR MUCH more effective than I could imagine. Bought one - just to try - heavily discounted for Revain Prime Day in July 2016. Didn't really believe the claims that it could handle both kitchen odors and smoke. But it is so! When the GermGuardian is plugged in, kitchen smoke (from toasters and grills) rises much less frequently and threatens to set off fire alarms. Also, my home office has a lot less greasy smell. Minor cooking smells have practically disappeared. The GermGuardian is very large, although you can plug it into the top plug of a two-pronged wall socket and still use the bottom plug for other purposes. The main downside is that the fan is quite noisy, but to me the pros make up for the noise. Now I can't even hear the fan. It became part of the background noise together with the refrigerator motor. Mine is still working well after being plugged in and running continuously for almost seven months. It has survived several power outages. Pretty soon he'll need a new UV lamp (see GermGuardian-LB1000-Replacement-GG1000-Sanitizer) but as far as I can tell those are the only ongoing maintenance costs. If my basic device lasts longer than 1 year, I am completely satisfied.
