Review on 🌞 Remington Solar Builder Series: Powerful 40-Watt Solar Attic Fan with Nighttime Operation and Weather Resilience by Matt Simpson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cadillac outside, Kia inside.

I just received the fan along with the WiFi control option. At first glance it looks very well made. I sent in each part and wanted to test it before the planned installation. I immediately noticed that the power supply's power cord was coming out of the control box. Looking further, I noticed that the ground wire had been severed. Strange. So I went to the company's website and emailed a mailbox that said "Quick Reply" after trying to get through with no reply (during business hours). 12 hours later I received no reply. So I decided to take the control box apart as I knew a thing or two about the electrics, maybe it could be trimmed down a bit to fix the inside of the box. After removing the control box cover, I found that the ground wire is missing. This is not a coincidence, this is a manufacturing process. They have no room for an internal ground, so this wire is not used. Why? Why wouldn't I want to connect ground for a device that is obviously used outside. Of course I'll be grounding my power supply when I get close to the device, but grounding the device stops there. After reinserting the wire into the box and securing it with a zip tie so it wouldn't happen again, I started looking at the rest of the wiring. This unit is good and once connected it works if the box but all the cables used in this unit have extra wires that are cut off and not used. It just seems odd that they couldn't have spent a little more time getting the wiring right to give this item a 5 star price because it is a 5 star price. I'll report after the installation.
