As the saying goes, a device is just a shell that you open. I found it easier to use a small standard flathead screwdriver to pry open the sinks. Then all you have to do is move the motherboard from your old key fob to this new key fob. The buttons had a tendency to slip and fall out if you weren't careful, but with a little attention it's easy to put everything back in place. Then simply connect and check. I bought two. The first fit perfectly. I had a little more trouble with the second when I first started using it. I just opened it up again and adjusted the knobs, snapped it in place and everything worked fine. Great little product.
