Review on 📻 Volkswagen and Audi Factory Antenna Adapter: Metra 40-VW53 Aftermarket Radio by Robert Jackson

I used this when installing an aftermarket stereo on a 2000 Jetta TDI. You have active antennas and need such an adapter. First let me say that this adapter works as it should and I have not noticed any difference in radio reception compared to the stock configuration. So it works as it should. However, you may find that there is a slightly newer version on sale, but twice the price. As far as I know the new version is smaller. You can't tell from the picture but this adapter probably has a 6" to 8" metal hose as part of the adapter which is very difficult to fit behind my stereo. It actually pops out a bit on my radio, which is annoying. I don't know how much smaller the other is, but given the opportunity I'd probably go with the smaller and more expensive model to save space. That thing is big and chunky! If you have an Audi with plenty of room in the back, this might work well.
