I've had several MP3 players over the years and found it reasonable that they should have a limited lifespan . Eventually the battery will stop holding a charge, but even before that the devices will likely behave strangely - I've been using the SanDisk Clip for about two years and it's worked fine for the most part, but in the last few months it's started to fail When plugged into a computer via USB, it either doesn't show up in the file manager at all, or appears for less than a second and disappears, but then charges anyway (this isn't a problem with my USB ports). Sometimes the screen freezes. Sometimes when you select a track it freezes and won't play, won't turn off, doesn't do anything - in those cases I just put it somewhere and eventually it turns off. As long as it lasted, everything was fine. When it started failing, it wasn't very helpful.
