Review on Cassette Deck Bluetooth Adapter: ION Audio Cassette Adapter with Bluetooth Music Receiver by Brian Manfre

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The absolute best way to get cheap Bluetooth in an old car is better than installing a confusing aftermarket radio

Cassette radio sounds like a modern radio. If you buy one of these with such an expectation, you will be disappointed. Cassette players have a narrower audio bandwidth than newer formats. I am very happy with the functionality of the product, it was easy to connect to my phone. Once paired, as mentioned in another review, leave the cassette in the off position so that it turns off when you turn off the radio, otherwise the battery will die. So far I've only ridden about 45 minutes at a time and in that time I've never had a dead battery on the cassette. I usually plug it in to charge with my phone's micro USB charger after a day's ride. Leaving the band on drains the battery regardless of whether the phone is in range or not. The mic on the cassette works, but the cassette player in my Dodge Shadow sits very low so people can't hear me when the engine is running. I believe this will be less of a problem on cars with radios located on top of the dash. The sound quality is crisp, much better than my wired adapter in the same price range. Don't expect the bass to be very good on any cassette player other than this one, 10/10 on audio. I was also able to slip a cassette into some old cassette decks to turn my favorite cassette decks into vintage Bluetooth speakers. Build quality is about the same as a wired cassette adapter, so I wouldn't leave it in direct sunlight or anywhere it could get crushed. play with your head I was able to remove mine very cleanly with a flat head. I'm not sure if removing it improves the sound quality or not, but given how easily it comes off, I would suspect it's packaging material. For the price, this is the best way to get sound to your car speakers with a factory radio. . I try to keep the factory radio as much as possible so as not to break any cables and install a DIN radio. I haven't found an aftermarket head unit with an interface that actually makes sense either.
