The suction cup stays in place and fits snugly in the stand. Just push firmly to lock it in place.

Works as it should, you just need to apply a lot of pressure to seat the ball properly in the holder/mount. Saved me from constantly looking at the cup holders where my GPS used to be since I lost the original suction cup. It soaks up and stays in place even better than the original.
