Review on Acuvar Speed Memory Reader Writer by Brian Olson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not totally useless but close enough

I bought one of these card readers used - like new - from Revain's warehouse. It would not turn on (no LED light when connected to a computer, no activity with memory card inserted). It turned out to be only marginally more useless than the new one I ordered as a replacement. The "new" card reader had a power light when connected to a computer. With A LOT of persuasion, unplugging/replugging/inserting/removing/re-inserting, I was able to get it to read a standard SD memory card SOMETIMES. However, the micro memory card was not so lucky and it is a waste of time trying to read the memory card, for which I originally bought the memory card reader. It has several other types of memory card slots, but I don't have any of those, so I can't tell if they work or not. Since my computer already has a built-in SD and microSD reader that always works, I don't need a feature that sometimes works for this cheap plastic device. I'm still looking for something that can extract my old data from my old Sony memory stick; but won't try any other. I don't need a feature that sometimes works for this cheap plastic device.
