Let's face it, nothing glamorous about the cigarette lighter socket, but if that's what you want, functionality is what you need. This does what I want - it allows me to plug a 12v outlet into the box that contains the battery so I can connect 12v devices to it. And remember that the lifespan of things depends on how you use them. Use any tool with the respect it deserves, and you'll find that even 20-year-old Harbor Freight tools work just as well as Lowes' shiny new tools. It's plastic, if I handle it like hell I could break it in no time. I expect to be using this for at least the next 10 years.
