Review on Ruvihya Portable 15.6" Touchscreen Monitor with 10-Point Touch, 60Hz, Flicker-Free, Frameless Design, Built-In HD Speakers by Richard Hampton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best portable computer I've ever tested

Portable Touchscreen Monitor: $245.99 at the time of writing. I travel quite often for work and when I do it's usually a week. While I'd love to take my huge 38-inch ultrawide monitor with me, it's far from practical. So I started using an external monitor instead (which really benefits my productivity). This is the fourth attempt I've made to find the right mix of work and play (working during the day and playing the big screen on my Nintendo Switch at night). I'll preface the rest of my review. However, it is specifically designed for the FullHD 1080p touchscreen model. *What I liked*: This monitor comes in a very nice box. A hard-walled box contains a well-packaged screen and accessories, safely separated by soft foam inserts. It's a bit like Apple packaging, which I mention primarily because it can be a good gift. This monitor is very easy to use. I've seen other complaints that changing the settings was difficult. Maybe they are for other models. To be honest, I didn't even read the instructions. I did not have to. A single press of the power button brings up the on-screen menu and you can change settings simply by touching the screen. Suuuuuuuuuuu just. The screen itself is great! This is by far the best looking monitor I've tested (although I haven't tried an external OLED screen yet). Colors are bright and rich (300 nits maximum brightness is more than enough for outdoor use). It's also surprisingly good at preventing smudges and fingerprints. It looks even better when my switch is plugged into it. Speaking of the switch, it works pretty well after I played around a bit to figure out how to wake it up (more on that below). However, I had to connect an external power supply to the monitor. But the good news is that it also charged my Switch while I was playing (that doesn't mean it was charging, but I played for 2 hours and when I finished the console was 100% charged). It has sound on board, which is a nice touch, but don't plan on getting into that. Speakers are good but quiet. The last thing I will mention is the number of input options. It features mini HDMI, 2 USB-C 3.1 ports, USB mic (although I would prefer just the 3rd USB-C) and a 3.5mm audio jack. It's a good choice. *What I didn't like*: As I like to say, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The included lid is confusing. It attaches with magnets, but if it comes loose before you've read the instructions, you've got a heck of a lot of time to put it back on. However, once I read the case's instructions for use (they were crystal clear, by the way), it was very easy to use. The only other question I have is the price. At $245, that's a little higher than other monitors with similar features. But... as of this writing there is a $15 coupon and after a week of use I think it's still worth the price. The screen is just beautiful.*What you should know*Note that the screen is glossy, not matte. If you're looking for a matte screen, look elsewhere. If you want to use it with a Nintendo Switch, here's what you need to do: plug it into external power, plug the switch into a different USB-C port, remove the joysticks on the switch, and then press the power button the monitor once to wake up the switch. Boom, you're playing games on a great screen! * Verdict: * This portable screen is a huge win for me. It looks significantly better than other screens I've tried and has more input options. A fancy case can be disappointing at first, and the price is a bit higher than we'd like. But overall it's not enough for me to deduct a full star. If we could give half a star I would probably give 4.5 stars. But we can't, and that's definitely better than a 4. So in the end he gets 5 out of 5 stars from me. I would order again if I could lower the price with a coupon.
