Rating for everyday use

I've been hesitating about this purchase. Sometimes I think it was worth it, sometimes I wish I had chosen something different. To be honest I use it as a fan in a hot/humid factory. What you need to know before buying one for personal use and not for drying floors is that it doesn't circulate the air like a regular fan does. Most fans distribute air in a shape that can be thought of as an ice cream cone. The fan is at the narrow end. This fan pretty much pushes the air in a straight line within its diameter. At the same time, it has a "sweet spot". I would say the location for the 14" version of this fan is within the diameter of the fan (left to right) and maybe up to 10 feet from it. It could technically move air over 100 feet like they claim, but it's not air you can feel and cool. It moves air very well within its optimal range, and the air it moves is noticeably colder than the surrounding air. It's okay to sit on my tool box in this factory. It would be better if I had some kind of vibrating pillow for him to sit on. It would also be better if I bought a fan with the largest diameter. I highly recommend doing this if you can afford it, especially if you plan on using it in a large room or outdoors. I see it as a great desk fan (assuming you don't have a pile of papers), a great garage fan (assuming you don't mind moving it around a bit while you work), a great fan on the sofa or in bed, too a good fan for camper/tent. It probably blows about 30% stronger than a regular box fan, but again, it doesn't extend much into its air path.

Pros
  • Maximum energy efficiency with 1100 CFM rating and only 0.6A consumption
Cons
  • Expensive
