The license plate light on my 2007 Mini Cooper S Convertible is broken. I was about to replace it but this LED showed up in my product search. I figured it wouldn't be much more than the cost of the lens and would give longer lasting and brighter light so why not. Unfortunately it's a crappy design that doesn't work well with my Mini. First, it only has two (2) detachable tongues. The lights on my car require 4 reeds as they are connected in series and the tailgate latch is even in the chain. I had to splice the wires for both lights, which isn't easy given the short wires and limited space. The protrusions aren't even the right size, so the connector had to be spread apart to fit, and they stick out at a 90-degree angle rather than lying flat like the original lights. This made it incredibly difficult to connect connectors in tight spaces. One of the hinges broke. I had to disassemble the lantern to solder the tongue. What a damn test for a license plate light. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 just because the light itself is quite bright, but I really regret going down that route. There must be better options than this.
