Review on Rockwell 6C Gunmetal Razor by Denise Kirkeby

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Poor quality control and on top of that the customer service is terrible

I ordered this shaver to test the adjustable base plate. I thought it would be interesting to see where my perfect shave ranks in their numbering system. I receive the package and excitedly open the package. I immediately took it apart to try it out. I notice a definite wobble when removing the handle, which I found odd but thought maybe it just wasn't installed properly or something. Put it back on and it will swing the strands until it straightens out when synced to the baseplate. "Weird" I think, but try 2. Not aggressive enough. I reapply the shaving soap and try 3. It was ok but not what I would call a close shave. The wobble and resistance in the grip when disassembling and reassembling bothers me so I emailed customer service. Next morning I try 4. Seems good but I go to work and run my hand over a dry cheek and see stubble. Still not aggressive enough. Later that day customer service replies and says the threads on the razor are cut to prevent cross crossing. Later I try to thread it straight and the threads don't snag. Only screwed with transverse thread. I'm also starting to think that taking the thing apart at 05:30 with wet fingers is a bit dangerous. I email them again and double down that I think something is wrong. Next morning I try a 5. It's a pretty close shave, I had to go over some areas a few times but there weren't any scratches or cuts even with a fresh feather blade. I'm reasonably satisfied, but I've almost lost my enthusiasm for the "new shaver". I then receive an email from customer service stating that my inability to shave and fit the two pieces together is not a product defect. So it happened that day my 2C package arrived that I had ordered directly from them. The 2C handle unscrews and screws onto a buttery smooth surface. My suspicion is confirmed. They ended up making some baseplates to give the razor some personality, but in my opinion it's just wasted metal because I'll probably only ever use 6, maybe 5. Anyway, I can take two other 1/3 and 2/4 backplates and throw them in the bin because I won't waste the effort of shaving if there's stubble left. In my opinion they have poor quality control and their customer service contributes to this with terrible quality.

Pros
  • Shaving and hair removal
Cons
  • No color needed
