I really like Asus routers. I have network experience and have been supplying my home with professional Cisco products for a long time. Around 2015 I bought an Asus AC68 and in many ways loved its features, security and ease of setup. When it came time to buy my son a router for his dorm room, it was a no-brainer. Netgear, d-link and other consumer routers have so many security issues that are slowly being fixed. The OpenVPN configurations are really good. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it lacks some features on pricier routers. I have a feeling that the router could handle the TrendMicro package and security verification (which is actually a Merlin firmware feature) and there is no Merlin firmware for it. If you can afford the extra $20 I'd upgrade to the ACRH1300 (much more features) but it's still good value.
